LUSK - The second annual Fine and Industrial Arts night at Niobrara County High School was, by any measure, a resounding success. From the meal to the school tours, from the music room to the welding shop students and community members packed into the available space to see the talent and hard work of NCHS students on display.

Once again Roxanne Fish's art students showed an impressive array of work from sculpture to water colors. Paintings and drawings lined the hallway while three-dimensional works were found in the art room wing.

Two new additions, physical education and music joined the art and industrial arts tours. Visitors looked at new weight lifting and athletic records and students showed off the weight room and physical education achievements. Music educator Elise Rodrigues talked about the accomplishments of her students and the various options for vocal and instrumental music in the district.

As tour groups moved through the vocational section of the school, Agriculture advisor Jason Hubbard and industrial arts instruction Joseph Martinez showed all of the projects and knowledge their students had accumulated through the year. This included use of the computerized laser engraving machine, electrical work, welding projects, advanced carpentry projects and classroom accomplishments.

The evening was also used as a fundraiser for FBLA national qualifiers with silent auction items and a meal served by FBLA. Anyone who attended the event left with no doubt that NCHS students are being well prepared for any career path college bound or not.
